My First Creative Non-fiction

So…   This is my first attempt at creative non-fiction.  I found it really difficult to write as I have only ever written factual pieces before.  Sure, I have made some assumptions to add to the story in my previous writing but this goes another step.

This story is based on the death of my grandfather’s brother in 1877, aged just 6 years.  What I do know is:

• That the family lived on their selection – The Boughyards
• That he was six – I have his birth and death certificates.
• What he died of – it is listed on his death certificate
• That he was seen by a doctor the day before he died – also from his death certificate

To make the story come to life (hopefully) I have used a bit of poetic license.  Here it is:
